Langlade Hospital | Pathways Magazine | Fall 2014 - page 3

Reflections
I have been in my role as the chief of staff of Langlade
Hospital for over a year. It has been an exciting and
interesting time for both me and the hospital.
Personally, I have had two additional children,
increasing my family size to six. My oldest son is
now in middle school and is participating in both
football and wrestling. My parents have moved to
the area. I feel my children benefit from having their
grandparents—both my parents and my husband’s parent—so much in
their lives.
Expanding professional role
I have increased my administrative role here at Langlade as well as with
the Aspirus organizations to become the chief medical officer at Langlade
Hospital and regional director of Aspirus Clinics Incorporated.
The hospital has seen changes as well. The hospital has had to say
goodbye to wonderful providers and has embraced new providers to its
medical staff. I have seen many of the medical staff engaging in process
improvement, whether through committee membership or participation
in meetings. We have started a hospitalist program with great success and
continue to improve the care in the hospital and make the program strong.
We have also started computer order entry in the hospital and expanded
the role of EPIC, our electronic health record, both in the hospital and
clinics. The hospital has also participated in a Community Health Needs
Assessment, and through that endeavor has created work groups to address
some of the biggest needs of our community.
As the landscape of health care changes, working closely with our
partner Aspirus will be a necessity. We have started projects to work on
integrating our systems and provide seamless care across the Aspirus
affiliates.
