Langlade Hospital | Pathways Magazine | Fall 2014 - page 6

THE
Langlade Health Coalition has
developed a series of action teams to
take on community health initiatives.
Each action team has chosen a focus that
aligns with an initiative laid out in the
Community Health Needs Assessment,
which was completed in June 2013 by
Langlade Hospital and many other
surrounding community partners. Teams
are currently working on action plans
established to positively impact four
priority health areas:
w
Affordability of health care and
prescription medication costs
w
Obesity
Fruits and Vegetables in Rural Areas.
Exercise Availability in Rural Areas.
After-School Programs for Kids.
w
Substance abuse
w
Wellness and prevention
Wellness Programs for Area Employers.
Health and Hygiene at Summer Bible
School Program.
Smoking During Pregnancy
Campaign.
What we’ve been up to
Here is a sneak peek into what to look
for in the next couple months regarding
Langlade Health Coalition:
White Lake Community Garden.
Through funding available with the
Community Health Needs Grant,
Langlade Health Coalition assisted
White Lake by providing funds for
the materials to start up the garden.
The garden is flourishing with many
goods that will be passed out to the
community.
Health and Hygiene Education at
Summer Bible School Program
took
place July 12 through 14, providing
health and hygiene education, along
with a healthy snack for children in
the program.
Wellness Programs for Area
Employers

the number of employer-sponsored
programs by contacting area employers,
sharing local success stories, and
identifying challenges and opportunities.
A Wellness Summit is being planned for
September.
